Punjab overview

Punjab Travel Guide
Most of Punjab’s residents are Sikhs. In the streets, tourist will see many markets selling turbans and bearded men dressed in their traditional costumes. The capital of Punjab is Chandigarh – where new hotels, malls, cafes and other similar air-conditioned hang-out spots line the city’s clean roads. While some tourists are unimpressed by the city’s fast transformation, others find Chandigarh a nice break from the trouble of other Indian cities. Meanwhile for the Sikhs, the city of Amritsar – near to the border of India and Pakistan – is of greater significance because it is where the Golden Temple is situated. Although Amritsar is relatively busy and crowded, the serene atmosphere of the Golden Temple will make an enduring impression among tourists.
