Jaisalmer overview

Jaisalmer, a beautiful city in Rajasthan, is known as the ‘Paradise of the Thar Desert’. A lot of tourists take a trip to Jaisalmer to experience the famed camel safari. Travellers however need to be aware that the prices of tour agencies vary every season. The best time to visit the city is during January or February. This is the period when the lively annual desert festival takes place. Folk dance performances, camel races and even a beauty pageant are the main attractions of the event. Meanwhile, Jaisalmer Fort dominates the city. Unlike most forts in the country, Jaisalmer Fort is crowded and lively. Currently, there are numerous hotels, shops and houses inside the fort area. But the monument is getting into trouble, as overcrowding and poor drainage have led the fort to sink over time.
