Bikaner overview

Bikaner Travel Guide
Bikaner is a lively, dust-swirling desert city popular among tourists for its magnificent fort. Close to the ancient fort lies Bikaner’s old walled town, a medieval labyrinth of narrow and dark streets. During the 15th century, Bikaner served as an important caravan trade route. It was said that when British colonisers came centuries later, Bikaner traded its best camels for the city’s freedom. Camel safaris in Bikaner continue to gain popularity among travellers. The city is an excellent alternative to Jaisalmer’s safari. There are however fewer safari attractions in Bikaner than Jaisalmer, but the location is perfect for travellers wanting to sleep on dunes or to experience living in desert villages.
