Aurangabad overview

Aurangabad Travel Guide
Being the country’s capital from 1653 to 1707, Aurangabad retains a number of valuable historical relics, including Bibi Ka Maqbara, the city’s Taj Mahal wannabe version. But the real reason travellers make a trip to the city is because Aurangabad makes an excellent base to explore the carved caves of Ellora; a UNESCO World Heritage site. Silk fabrics are the city’s traditional trade but Aurangabad is now considered as one of India’s major industrial centres, with bikes and beer being the big income earners for the locals. Travellers planning to tour within the city will encounter no transportation problem, as rickshaws flock just about everywhere. However, renting a bicycle is the cheapest alternative way to sightsee around Aurangabad.
