Andhra Pradesh’s rich Islamic history can be seen at its lavish mosques, opulent palaces and the majestic Qutb Shahi tombs. Meanwhile in Hyderabad, the state capital of Andhra Pradesh, a 17.5m-high Buddha statue announces Andhra Pradesh’s rich Buddhism history. The state was once a centre of Buddhism in India for hundreds of years. However, Amaravathi and Nagarjunakonda are the only few remaining old Buddhist monasteries and stupas that are still standing in Andhra Pradesh.
